ABOUT THE UBUNTU EDUCATION FUND
In 1999, Jacob Lief and Malizole “Banks” Gwaxula founded Ubuntu Education Fund, a nonprofit organization dedicated to working with the people of the Eastern Cape Province to develop quality education and healthy communities in the New South Africa.
Banks was a teacher living and working in the Port Elizabeth Townships and Jacob was an American university student. A bond between two friends has become a family of over 75 employees and a life-force for an entire community. Today, Ubuntu is reaching over 40,000 children, youth, and adults with life-saving health services and vital educational resources.
